You know you are a Real Estate Agent if …
Your car (or mode of transportation) has as many filing cabinets (or places that files can be stuffed) as your office
Your monthly cell phone minutes are almost in the 6 figure mark.
You can effectively answer the phone, reply to an email, send a fax, eat your lunch, review title work, send a text message, (throw a sheep), and set a showing at one time.
The only time that you can be social (outside of work) is at 2am – online with the other real estate…

Top 10 Ways to Use Blogging in Real Estate [#10] – SEO
SEO = Search Engine Optimization, not Sour Evolution of Optimists (as some still believe).
There are a million different blog posts out there (and books, too) that explain why blogs are good for SEO, so this will be short, sweet and to the point.
Professional Blogs are sites that are consistently updated with unique and relevant information.
Google likes updated, unique and relevant information.
Google will give you props if you maintain a blog with consistently updated, unique and relevant information.
Google will give props to whichever website…

Top 10 Ways to Use Blogging in Real Estate – Promote Your Team and Your Real Estate Business
Blogging can be a great facet to your business. (As we have all come to learn over the past few years …) One way that you can use blogging to your advantage is by using your blog to promote you and your business.
No, I’m not talking about screaming “I AM A REALTOR®!” at the top of your virtual lungs on every post.
I am talking about sharing your professional experiences with your audience … Passively sharing why YOU are a great agent…

I am slammed. We took 7 listings this week, which brings our total close to about 40 homes for sale in Colorado Springs. I am also a real estate trainer and technology coach. Basically, I am a full-time, top producing real estate agent … a DOUBLE agent who teaches other agents how to be as busy as me. All that AND find time to mess around with my kids an maybe do a load of laundry here and there. … Oh, and then there is Twitter and Facebook.
HOWEVER …
A HUGE chunk of my business comes to us from our…

Many of my friends are ar #RETS (ReTechSouth) mingling and uniting and re-uniting with each other IRL (In Real Life). I am not there, but WILL be doing some IRL mingling this Sunday when some of my online peeps make it to Colorado Springs for a NAR event.
Although these friendships are CREATED online, it is the IRL times that solidify the awesomeness that we all share.
I did some IRL connecting today as well. There is only about ONE other prominent real estate blogger in Colorado Springs and for as much as we tweet back and forth and chat…

We did it.
We left our Keller Williams office.
Now, we stayed with Keller Williams (the company), but switched offices. We needed to find new leadership, new culture and an overall new atmosphere that better “fit” who we are as a team.
We had been with the same office for almost 5 years, and over that time, it was feeling less and less like “home.” So, we started to think about our options. With ZERO resistance from our local office leadership, we set out looking for a new home for our team.
We interviewed (almost) every office (independent and national) in…

Our team has been averaging about 10 new listings a month. Because of our Certified Distressed Property Expert designation, about 1/3 of them are short sales or pre-foreclosures of some sort.
Talk about being waist-deep in the personal lives of our Sellers… Job losses and illnesses and interest rate increases that lead to financial instability and stress that then even lead to illness and divorce (in some cases) are a large chunk of the lives of these Sellers that we work with.
Sometimes, I hate listing these homes. I feel so bad for the situations that these people are in.…

This current real estate market is _________________. But, regardless of how you finished that sentence I still love being a real estate agent. Here are 34 reasons WHY.
I love waking up each morning knowing that no matter HOW much planning I do, my schedule will change at a moments notice. Apparently I like living on the edge.
Being ill does not mean I will not make money. Enough of what I do can be finagled from the comfort of my own home … at least for a couple days.
Real Estate makes me cry. I cry when homeowners, who have…

I have been watching the History Channel’s series on the 7 Deadly Sins, and it got me to thinking about real estate. (I am pretty good at linking just about anything to real estate…) I realized that there are many ways that these 7 deadly sins creep into MY life, and I am sure there are times that they creep into ALL of our lives.
Also, I’m sure there are about 10 more real estate-specific deadly sins, but today I’m just touching on the traditional 7.
1. Pride
Real Estate pride the overtly excessive belief in one’s own abilities (or refusal…

I hate real estate designations. They mean absolutely NOTHING.
Of course, this is only partially true. (But I like speaking in absolutes, as it is bound to piss someone off, and pissing people off WAS one of my New Years Resolutions for 2008.)
Real estate designations only MEAN something if the agent actually uses the education that it TOOK to get the designation to better the real estate world around them and then goes onto explains the WIIFM (What’s In It For Me) to their clients. Neither of which most designation-heavy real estate agents do… leaving their real estate designations relatively…
