In my daily email from Realtor.org, I got a link to this. It said, “Don’t be dorky”. It is probably important to not be a dork, so I am passing it along.
It seems the editor from NAR found the original here and trimmed out all the other stuff except the don’t be a dork part.
Don’t. Okay?

If plagiarism were found to be an ethics violation, would NAR be guilty?
I am not okay with this.
I am a dork, and take complete offense to this Dork-Bashing that is now perpetuated by NAR. If this does not cease and desist immediately, I will be forced to stop being a real estate agent and go audition for Survivor.
This is ridiculous. I am crying now. Thanks, NAR.
THANKS for the mention! I had to laugh when I saw that post – I mean, c’mon… surely there was something a little more meaningful in the original post than what they pulled out! This happened to me once before – I wrote a brilliant (IMNTBHO) piece about Prospecting without a Sales Pitch and they cut it down to an abysmally boring piece and actually credited me with it – as if I wrote the silly thing! I threw a fit about it, but didn’t get anywhere… At least this one makes it clear that I’m not the author of the summary (I hope).
Have a great weekend!
Mariana, I totally agree. The Dork-bashing must come to an end.
Jennifer, all that was missing in the “excerpt” was the heart and soul of what you wrote. Now, why would you take offence at that?
You’ll notice the D.O.R.K. who wrote that excerpt (that makes Cliff Notes look like War & Peace by comparison, BTW) didn’t put HIS name anywhere in it, now did he? To paraphrase Obi-Wan: Who’s more dorky, the dork or the dork that massacres blog posts like that?
Pretty dorky summary by Realtor.org. I’m kind of feeling Dorky that I send them money to support dorky summaries when I can read Jennifers great posts (and the whole post) on AR for free.
A follow-up blog on Active Rain (and yes, Paul, it’s FREE! Thanks for the compliment!): http://activerain.com/blogsvie.....t-Be-Dorky
Hmmm… I’m feeling the need for an annual Dorky Blog Award. Any suggestions for a name?
