Reaching Out to NAR

Reaching Out

The following is a copy of an email I sent yesterday to Bob Goldberg.

__

Mr. Goldberg,

Thank you for taking the time to read this email. I got your name and email address from Steve Brown and am sending him a copy of this email to you.

The subject is REALTOR.com – and I have enclosed several links for you to review. Many people, as well as me, have been writing about Realtor.com on the internet for some time. I believe that Realtor.com has been a problem since its inception and that it isn’t going to get any better until NAR completely takes it back from MOVE. I sincerely believe that if you and the other decision makers (both staff and elected) will take the time to review just these two sites (and the links that are on them) you will see a very different view of this issue than the one you currently have.

I am not saying that your viewpoint is “wrong” but simply pointing out that any “rightness” – on any issue – is always a matter of viewpoint. What is good and right for the duck hunter isn’t necessarily good and right for the duck. I would very much like the opportunity to personally (and briefly, I promise) address the leadership of NAR regarding this issue during the convention this November in San Diego. Or if there is a better time and location for the decision makers than during the convention – please, just let me know the time and place.

Here is a page of mine on the subject of Realtor.com https://www.cheatingagents.com/

And here is one I ran across some years ago that was then hosted on AOL where the author has gone to great lengths to keep his name private. Much of the content of this site is now a bit stale dated but you can see the sentiment is not new. https://www.justsayno2r.com/.

I am respectfully requesting ten minutes time from the executive committee to respond to their questions and concerns on what is no doubt going to be a major undertaking for NAR.

Thanking you in advance for your consideration,

Russell Shaw

Thanks again, Russell for keeping this issue on the front burner. R.com was a mistake, to keep making the mistake is a travesty.

I hope they are open to your proposal.

[Begin Total Speculation] My fear is that NAR has previously entered into a very disadvantageous long-term agreement with MOVE which NAR is embarrassed about and reluctant to discuss (NAR has a history of bad internet decisions) or that the Realtor.com web site contract is such a cash cow for NAR that the bureaucracy is not anxious to open discussions which might lead to NAR making less money from a new vendor. [End Total Speculation]

If this happens at the convention in November, it’ll be a crime if it’s not captured on video.

OK, so you are coming to beautiful San Diego. We have the Zoo, The Wild Animal Park, and SeaWorld. All three of these places have highly intelligent animals that are likely to be more receptive to what you have to say than the NAR executive committee and are way more fun to boot.

If you get your invite, the 1st round is on me.

    Russell,

Did they ever email/call you back?
