I’m going to be working with Jay Thompson to organize a drive for the American Red Cross directed to those in the storms path. The RE blog community can move some serious coin when we come together, I hope you’ll help- watch here for updates…
This video below is what my parents and my children survived back on May 3, 1999 and why this is so close to my heart. I hope that you’ll watch this video and appreciate how tremendous this storm really is… yesterday’s storms hit FIVE states:

Benn, this one strikes close to home for me. I too was around back in 99 when the big one hit OKC. I was actually still an insurance agent in those days, so I got the displeasure of working that cat loss hard, and it was the single most emotionally difficult thing I’ve ever experienced. Thanks for posting this here for all to see.
Benn – Thanks to you and Jay for taking this on. I know the RE.net will seize this opportunity to meet the needs of those affected.

Someone better step up and do something. Too bad there wasn’t a responsible government agency designed to handle emergencies….

From what I hear, the government has had a great response time, but public funds only cover so much. Some of us have lost everything before (I myself have experienced my home burning to the ground) and the government and insurance can only do so much.
Even if the government was perfect, we would still be aiming to [help] those in their time of need!
Its good to hear that the government stepped up.
