A friend of mine and fellow John Hall & Associates agent, Leif Swanson was recently featured in the Arizona Republic. What prompted me to post it is it is regarding his blog, Ugly House Photos. As there are so many readers here who really like to see these ugly house photos, I wanted to pass these along.

I guess it’s not THAT hard to believe that a REALTOR would post these photos and ridicule them online! Although so funny I can barely stand it, something about this worries me.
In Vermont, each real estate office has the ability to either allow or disallow blogging about the listings that are in the system posted by that specific firm. As I understand it, IDX and syndication is one thing, but blogging is another with our MLS agreements and associations here.
This also makes me wonder if there have been backlashes from the seller, the listing agent, or their real estate commission regarding derogatory comments on another agent’s listings. But other than slander and privacy issues, I’m not sure really what the boundaries ARE so therefore am probably a little more timid about listed property online, knowing that a firm that has an exclusive right to market should really be the only one actually marketing the property. If anybody else has a better understanding of this please let me know!

Still Needs a Bit of Staging” Ya think? I clicked through to the photo blog and it would be hilarious if it weren’t so true. It’s a damn shame sellers don’t “get it” about presenting their home in somewhat reasonable condition. Of course, it’s the Realtor’s fault when the house doesn’t sell.
