Top 10 small business Facebook pages named – any real estate winners?

Success of small businesses online

Real estate professionals, teams, and sometimes even brokerages are the quintessential small business and are turning in droves to networking on Facebook. Today, SocialMediaExaminer.com announced their top 10 small business Facebook pages for 2011 and we wondered if anyone from the real estate industry was represented, given the sheer number of Facebook pages made and maintained by Realtors.

Of the 1400 nominees in the competition, only one was related to the industry and although it is not a brokerage, it is a company many are familiar with- Obeo.com with took eighth place. Obeo creates interactive web experiences for the real estate professional from professional photography to virtual staging and beyond. We have tapped Obeo in the past for their expertise in photography among other things.

Obeo’s Facebook page:

According to SocialMediaExaminer.com, here is what the judges liked:

  1. Good use of incentives to like the page for Facebook exclusive promotions
  2. Variety in posts (blogs, pictures, trivia, links)
  3. Nice presentation of video and virtual staging on Welcome tab
  4. Smart balance of content on YouTube tab – informational and inspirational

As you embark upon your own Facebook page, consider the elements of Obeo’s page as strengths. What the judges did not mention that we have witnessed for a long time is a very specific voice Obeo has and that is of Obeo’s social media manager, Marci James. She is calm, cool, collected and always engaging, kind and productive. She reaches out to the industry as a helpful voice, even to those who are not Obeo clients. Their goal is to be helpful and it is evident in everything they do.

It’s a great approach, and we encourage you to find your own approach be it asking questions of your community to engage conversation, challenging the norm of agents in your area, or providing useful information above and beyond a standard “market report” generated from your MLS.
