Google wants to pick your client’s next mortgage for them

Google’s new financial tool

Google has just announced the new “Google Advisor” tool that offers financial tools similar to the offering at Mint.com that we’ve covered over the years.

Now, at Google Advisor, users can use Google to track, forecast and get advice on their basic finances ranging from checking to mortgages.

Google is the biggest search engine known to man and arguably, one of the starting points of any home buyer’s search for a loan, agent or home. Google notes this is not a search engine, rather a comparison engine that allows users to streamline their search.

Is this another place for websites like Zillow Mortgage Marketplace or MortgageMatch.com to feature their data or is a threat to their core offering?

After watching the video below, tell us in comments what you think of Google’s big play for your consumer’s eyes. Do you want them to help people find better loans or do you think the data is notoriously untrustworthy?

Just another platform for Google to make money. Can't fault 'em for that. I give Google $ every month from my AdWords campaign. I get great FREE stuff from them too. I like and trust the big G for the most part.

I personally wouldn't use this for a mortgage, but I would consider it for something that required less customer service. I've been thinking of shopping credit cards since my Amex recently went up in rates.

Nothing can replace the one to one, personal service of a local lender. Would you rely on an internet quote with what is probably your most biggest purchase in your life? It may a good source to do some hunting on your own but nothing can compare to your local lender who you can talk with and speak to about your personal information. Why would you put such personal information in the hands of cyberspace?
