How to

YouTube Video Splicing

YouTube Editing

Don’t you hate when you want to share a YouTube video, but the beginning or ending drones on and on OR is inappropriate OR just poorly done and not good enough for your blog? Or perhaps you just want a specific scene for use. Now, all you have to do is enter the timestamp of the beginning and ending time of the YouTube URL and Splicd creates a new URL with just your specified time (you know, the portion that makes you happy)!

Before & After:

Here is the original YouTube video but THIS is the part I want you to see without having to watch the weird build up to the punchline. The problem I discovered with Splicd is that it does not have an embed option, so it’s got a ways to go. I can see how this will be helpful for putting together neighborhood or office staff montages, coverage of local events and more- what can you see Splicd as used in real estate?

I wish I had this yesterday, do you know of a good tool for removing background noise. MLBroadcast suggested audacity, but it is too hard. Others said get a Mac.

I love tech tools that make my life easier. Here comes the “but”…But, as a guy who has made videos, I would remind you that when you alter someone else’s work for your own gain – some may call it less than legal, certainly not quite ethical. Do most You-Tubers care if you do this, probably not – but what if it was one of your home or neighborhood tours that was being borrowed – and the part they removed was your agency info.

OK, scolding is over – have fun with this…it really is cool.

Missy – Audacity is a great tool, spend some time to figure it out. When you do – start pod-casting.
