SocialMention is Your New Best Friend

SocialMention Search Awesomeness

The image above is pretty self-explanatory but in case you haven’t had your coffee yet, SocialMention is a search engine designed specifically to assist you in managing your online reputation within the social stream. You can search all of the available social streams in one click, or you can narrow it down by searching specifically within blogs or microblogs (such as Twitter and FriendFeed), bookmarks (like del.ic.ious and StumbleUpon), comments (backtype and FriendFeed), events (through eventful and upcoming.yahoo), images (from flickr), news, or video.

After you select where to search, you can then drill down further by determining the time frame to narrow your search, so if you want to see what a hot month you’ve had you can!

But It’s Slow

SocialMention is relatively slow but I don’t mind because it’s crawling what I need instead of static sites from 2006. I’m a fast typer, talker and walker most the time, but not all my friends keep up- they’re still my friends.

Try doing a search on your name, your brokerage, your blog, your neighborhood and more to see what social media implications lie within each topic! You may find that you’re doing really well or that you have some work to do!

    Hi Lani,
Thanks for the great post! We really appreciate it.

Currently, the search is slow (our bad!) but we are working on a new release that will improve the search speed considerably. In addition, we’ll be adding a few new features as well.

Let us know if you have any suggestions,
    Jon

That is a bit scary…however it interesting to see if this gains much popularity. From a business perspective I don't think it will become popular anytime soon – at least in small communities.
